How ELECTROCLASS optimizes maintenance part management for BECTON DICKINSON.

17 October 2018

Customer Presentation and Needs

Becton Dickinson designs manufactures and markets pre-refillable syringes. The strong growth of its activity in recent years has led the management team and the technical services to consider a new extension accompanied by a rationalization of the areas of the production site of Pont de Claix.

The major challenge for the Maintenance Store Manager was the re-allocation of the space allocated to maintenance parts in the new building. The maintenance shop then contained spare parts for troubleshooting the production machines. These codified items were stored on shelves / shelves in a building on two levels representing a storage volume of 41 m³ and occupying up to 280 m² with growth estimated at 30%. Stock management was carried out with a software package issuing vouchers and the taking of parts by the technicians, the computer input being made by the warehouse workers for updating the stock.

"ELECTROCLASS has particularly focused on adapting to our own needs by proposing the installation of the JUMPER storage towers on two levels (two floors) (...) With this solution we were able to concentrate our rooms on only 13.8 m² on the surface, the space saving was substantial without requiring heavy work. "

ELECTROCLASS convinced because of the technological level and reliability of the solution but also for its concept of services and its geographical location. Indeed, the maintenance shop has the imperative to ensure accessibility to spare parts 24 hours a day to intervene as quickly as possible on the production.

Customer benefits:

  • A volume of 56.5 m³ stored and secured on only 13.8m² with a potential extension of 30%..
  • Reorganization of stocks by family, with containers of the appropriate dimensions, the centralization of the storage and the limitation of access by code on the system.
